Our subsidiary, Halfar System, based in Bielefeld, was recently honoured with the PSI Academy Award 2025 in the category ‘Product of the Year’. With its 6,000 members, the Promotional Product Service Institute (PSI) is Europe’s largest corporate network in the promotional products industry. With the new PSI Academy format, it offers a platform for training, awards and networking.
The PSI Academy Awards were presented for the first time this year. Entries from twelve countries were evaluated on sustainability, compliance, and suitability as promotional products. Halfar System’s shopper MONO convinced the jury in all areas.
The MONO is an innovative shopper bag made entirely from a single material – from the handles to the seams, it is made from 100% polyester. It can also be customised with customer-specific logos made from the same material. During product development, standard components such as coatings, composite materials, and accessories like zippers, buttons, and buckles were deliberately omitted. The result is a single-material product that is fully recyclable at the end of its life cycle. This ‘design for recycling’ approach, in line with the EU Ecodesign Regulation, enables material recycling in accordance with the principles of the circular economy. To promote transparency and education, a label sewn into the inside of the shopper explains these principles directly on the product.
Sustainability aspects were taken into account throughout the entire product life cycle during product development – from material selection to packaging and use to disposal. A waste-free manufacturing process minimises raw material losses during production. Production also takes place in a factory that is audited according to amfori BSCI, a significant corporate initiative to improve working conditions in global supply chains. Additionally, logistics processes are geared towards sustainability. Products are shipped in recyclable cardboard boxes without individual packaging and, where possible, by sea freight. Furthermore, in collaboration with ClimatePartner, Halfar System has recorded its greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the GHG Protocol and offset them through certified climate protection projects.
