Our subsidiary SND PorzellanManufaktur in Zeulenroda refines mugs and porcelainware with passion—and with a sharp focus on resource efficient energy use for kilns and finishing processes. As part of JCK Holding, SND is setting new benchmarks in sustainable production. Targeted investments in future ready energy and utilities technology are boosting efficiency, shrinking our environmental footprint, and strengthening independence from external energy suppliers.
On site solar power with battery storage
Since early 2024, SND has covered around 30% of its electricity needs with power generated by its company owned photovoltaic system. With 78 kWp of installed peak capacity, clean solar energy is produced where it is consumed. A 44 kWh battery ensures surplus energy is available even when the sun isn’t shining. Thanks to a self consumption rate of over 70%, the system meaningfully eases demand on the public grid—delivering rapid payback.
The next step is already planned: an expansion to just under 100 kWp of PV capacity and a larger storage unit. By staying below this threshold, SND deliberately avoids the statutory direct marketing requirement, allowing the electricity generated to be used primarily on site and enabling the team to keep its focus on the core business.
Efficient compressed air supply
Compressed air is essential to many of SND’s production steps. To maximize efficiency, SND has equipped its compressed air center with state of the art KAESER technology: two stationary rotary screw compressors (SM 10) and a variable speed compressor (SK 22 / 8 SFC) provide dry, oil free air precisely as needed. Their interaction is coordinated by the SIGMA AIR MANAGER 4.0, which continuously monitors pressure, flow and energy use across all components. By automatically prioritizing the most efficient units, the system minimizes leak related losses and idle time.
A key advantage: the setup is fully redundant. If one compressor requires maintenance or fails, the remaining two seamlessly take over—without production interruption and without costly express repairs or rental equipment. The result is high availability and planning reliability.
With these two flagship projects, SND demonstrates how modern technology and disciplined energy management go hand in hand. JCK Holding is proud of the innovative strength of its subsidiary: powered by clean solar energy and intelligent compressed air control, we produce porcelain of outstanding quality while actively protecting the environment. At SND PorzellanManufaktur, craftsmanship meets forward looking engineering—for products made responsibly.
